飞蝶瓜又称蝶瓜,是一年生草本矮生蔬菜作物,因其果形美观,形如飞蝶而得名。飞蝶瓜质密清香,风味独特,适合炒食、蒸食,也可加工成罐头食品,作为特种蔬菜栽培,具有较大的开发潜力。现将有关栽培技术介绍如下。1.适时栽种,培育壮苗飞蝶瓜极早熟,从播种到采收嫩瓜,露地早春栽培只需50多天。它喜欢温暖的气候,生长适宜温度为22～25℃,30℃以上生长缓慢,且易发生病毒病。而低温短日照能促进雌花形成。飞蝶瓜提早播种,能早结瓜,故露地栽培可在4月初播种育苗,塑料大棚栽培可在2月下旬～3月上旬播种。
