艺术体操在我国是一项新兴的运动。它于五十年代传入我国。目前,在美国、英国、法国及其它西方国家人们把它称为“现代韵律操”;在日本则称它为“新体操”。不管人们怎样对其命名,但是它的内容及特点却是相同的,即运动员(集体或个人)徒手或手持轻器械,在和谐的乐曲伴奏下做出各种优美的动作;因此,它成为当代女子独有的一竞技运动项目。艺术体操于十九世纪末起源欧洲,直至二十世纪四十年代才被列为竞技运动项目。在1948年、1952年和1956年的三届奥运会的竞技体操比赛中,已有个人和团体器械操,这是艺术体操在国际比赛中的最初形式。这一运动项目在1963年被国际体操联合会正式承认为女子比赛项目,并在布达佩斯举行了第一届艺术
Rhythmic gymnastics is an emerging sport in our country. It was introduced to our country in the fifties.
