The World Health Organization established the theme of World Tuberculosis Day on March 24, 2002 as “Stop TB, fightpoverty”. Unlike previous years, the theme of this year’s World Tuberculosis Day is not just a slogan, but it requires that countries around the world have plans to implement the extended direct observation short-range treatment (DOTS). DOTS is an internationally accepted and accepted strategy for the control and treatment of tuberculosis. It is the basis for the eradication of tuberculosis. If applied properly, the plan can achieve a success rate of 90% for tuberculosis treatment worldwide. 2002 was a year of practical action.
