兰花又名山兰、幽兰、芝兰,为兰科,兰属植物。原产我国,为我国十大名花之一。因其姿态秀美,芳香馥郁,被誉为“香祖”、“天下第一香”、“国香”。我国栽培兰花历史十分悠久。据载早在春秋末期,越王勾践已在浙江绍兴的诸山种兰。魏晋以后,兰花已用于点缀庭园,美化环境。曹植的《消夜游西苑》诗中,有“秋兰被长堤”之句。唐宋时期,兰花的栽培养殖已较为普遍。
