李龟年,是唐代宫廷著名乐师。民间传说,他原系汴梁(今河南开封)民间倡优。年幼丧父母,孤身从师学艺在“瓦舍”卖唱糊口。李龟年十七岁就精于吹打弹唱,并会编曲合乐;少年时就显露其音乐才华。唐玄宗李隆基游巡汴梁之时,慕其名声,而将李龟年召至宫中“梨园”供职。李龟年三字并非他的真名实姓。据说是李龟年被召进宫去的第二年,皇帝很鉴赏他的音乐天才,那年正逢“龟兹”(今新疆库车)进乐之年,因此,御赐了他的名字号龟年,并圣训与皇家同姓,而叫李龟年。至于李龟年的真实姓名,后来就无从知晓。
