Due to the application of microprocessors to the sorter, the use of trace amounts of uranium as tracers for radioactive sorting of South African gold has become a viable and economical method. In the sorting, the nuggets were given one by one to the gamma ray counting and weight measurement system. After the computing system makes a decision, the compressed air injector is instructed to sort out the required nuggets from the streamlines of the nuggets. This article gives an overview of the handling capabilities of the separator and the characteristics of the ore handled by the specially designed first-generation separator.
