Studies have shown that the antioxidant components of Ginkgo biloba (GB) extracts inhibit the damage after myocardial ischemia through free radical scavenging mechanisms. The authors evaluated the effect of a short-term oral standard GB extract or its complex with lecithin (GB-PC) on the heart and the total free radical clearance by blood in an in vitro rat model of myocardial ischemia-reperfusion injury.
