Like many electronic components, connector makers have also taken a solid look in the past two years. In 2000, they even hit record highs. The major manufacturers such as Amphenol, Foxcom, Hirose, and Jae grew annual sales by more than 30%. However, the good dream of 2001 did not come as expected. According to Fleck survey data, in 2001 the global connector market dropped sharply, reaching 26.6%, connectors, cables, cable assemblies, backplane connectors, machine connectors and other markets across the board recession, sales of about 320 billion U.S. dollars, up from 430 billion U.S. dollars in 2000. Among them, the U.S. market declined by about 30%, Europe was 16.6%, Japan was 13.6% and the rest was about 17.7%. Only the Asia-Pacific region gave little relief to the industry with sales revenue up 2.9% (Mainland China was two Growth rate), but the momentum of exports weakened significantly. Some investigators said the worst of 2001 can be compared with the worst in history in 1946 and 1971. In 1946, after World War II, the connector market plummeted by 80% due to a sharp decline in military orders and by as much as 40% in the downturn in 1971.
