自本刊1975年第10期介绍了真空密封造型这一新工艺以后,引起了同内广泛重视。目前国内有些单位已用于生产,取得了很好的效果。此法的特点是利用无粘结剂的千砂作为造型材料,用塑料薄膜覆盖砂型型腔并在砂型抽真空下成型,这样型砂可以重复使用,大大节约型砂用量,而且还可提高铸件质量,简化造型和砂处理设备,改善劳动条件。因此,国外有人认为这个继机械造型、化学造型之后的第三代物理造型法,今后必将获得广泛发展。但目前真空密封造型法应用范围受到塑料薄膜变形率不高的限制(目前最高为600%),不能生产形状较复杂的铸件。为了扩大它的应用范围,国外除了积极研究预成型薄膜、喷涂薄膜外还研究了真空密封造型与熔摸铸造壳型及金属型敷砂造型结合起来的复合造型法,现分别介绍于后。
