Celine： Okay， now I’m gonna call my best friend in Paris who I’m supposed to have lunch with in eight hours. Okay？
Jesse： Okay.
Celine： Ring ring ring ring...Pick up.
Jesse： What？
Celine： Pick up the phone.
Jesse： Oh. Hello！
（speaking French）
Jesse： I’ve been working on my English recently. You wanna talk in English， just for laughs？
Celine： Yeah， okay. That’s a good idea. I don’t think I’mgonna be able to make it for lunch today. I’m sorry. I met a guy on the train， and I got off with him in Vienna and were still there.
Jesse： Are you crazy？
Celine： Probably.
Jesse： Wait， wait. He’s Austrian？ He’s from there？
Celine： No， no， no， no， no. He’s passing through here too. He’s American. He’s going back home tomorrow morning.
Jesse： Why’d you get off the train with him？
Celine： Well， he convinced me. I mean， actually， I was ready to get off the train with him after talking to him a short while. He was so sweet， I couldn’t help it. We were in the 1）lounge car， and he began to talk about him as a little boy seeing his great grandmother’s ghost. I think that’s when I fell for him. Just the idea of this little boy with all those beautiful dreams. He trapped me.
Jesse： Hmm.
Celine： And he’s so cute. He has beautiful blue eyes， nice pink lips， 2）greasy hair. I love it. He’s kind of tall， and he’s a little 3）clumsy. I like to feel his eyes on me when I look away. He kind of kisses like an 4）adolescent. It’s so cute.
Jesse： What？
Celine： Yeah， we kissed. It was so adorable. As the night went on， I began to like him more and more. But I’m afraid he’s scared of me. You know， I told him the story about the woman that kills her ex-boyfriend. He must be scared to death. He must be thinking I’m this 5）manipulative， mean woman. I just hope he doesn’t feel that way about me. Because， you know me， I’m the most 6）harmless person. The only person I could really hurt is myself.
Jesse： I don’t think he’s scared of you. I think he’s crazy about you.
Celine： Really？
Jesse： I mean I’ve known you a long time. I got a good feeling. You gonna see him again？
Celine： We haven’t talked about that yet. Okay， it’s your turn. You call your friend. Okay？
Jesse： All right， all right. Ring ring ring ...I usually get this guy’s answering machine.
Celine： Hi， 7）dude. What’s up？ Jesse： Hey， Frank. How you been？ I’m glad you’re home.
Celine： Cool. Yeah. So how was Madrid？
Jesse： Madrid sucked. You know， Lisa and I had our long overdue meltdown.
Celine： Oh， too bad. I told you， no？
Jesse： Yeah， yeah. The long-distance thing just never works. I was only in Madrid for a couple days. I got a cheaper flight out of Vienna. But， you know， it really wasn’t that much cheaper. I just…I couldn’t go home right away. I didn’t want to see anybody I knew. I just wanted to be a ghost， completely 8）anonymous.
Celine： So are you okay now？
Jesse： Yeah. No， no， yeah. I’m great. I’m great. That’s the thing. I’m 9）rapturous. And I’ll tell you why. I met somebody on my last night in Europe. Can you believe that？
Celine： That’s incredible.
Jesse： I know， I know. And you know how they say we’re all each other’s 10）demons and angels？ Well， she was literally a 11）Botticelli angel just telling me that everything was gonna be okay.
Celine： How did you meet？
Jesse： On the train. Yeah， she was sitting next to this very weird couple that started fighting so she had to move. She sat right across the 12）aisle from me. So we started to talk. And she didn’t like me much at first. She’s super smart， very passionate and beautiful. And I was so unsure of myself. I thought everything I said sounded so stupid.
Celine： Oh， man. I wouldn’t worry about that.
Jesse： No.
Celine： No， I’m sure she was not judging you. No， and by the way， she sat next to you， no？ I’m sure she did it on purpose.
Jesse： Oh， yeah？
Celine： Yeah. Us men are so stupid. We don’t understand anything about women. They act kind of strange， the little I know of them. Don’t they？
Jesse： Yeah.
赛琳：好了，我要打个电话给我在巴黎最好的朋友，原本8小时后我将和她共进午餐的。好吗？
杰西：好的。
赛琳：铃铃铃……接啊。
杰西：什么？
赛琳：接电话。

（说法语）
杰西：我最近正在练习英语。你想要用英语交谈吗，全当一笑？
赛琳：嗯，好啊，那是个好主意。我想我今天赶不上和你吃午饭了。对不起。我在火车上遇到一个人，和他一起在维也纳下了车，现在还在那儿。
杰西：你疯了吗？
赛琳：可能是吧。
杰西：等等，他是奥地利人？是那儿的人吗？
赛琳：不，不，不，不，不。他也是路过这儿。他是美国人，明早就打道回府了。
杰西：为什么你要和他下车？

杰西：什么？ 赛琳：是啊，我们接吻了，真是太可爱了。当夜幕降临，我就越来越喜欢他。但是我担心他会怕我。你知道吗，我把那个杀死自己前男友的女人的故事告诉他了。他一定怕得要死，一定在想我就是这个占有欲强、残暴的女人。我只希望他别那样看我，因为，你了解我，我是最没有恶意的人，除了自己，谁也不忍心伤害。
杰西：我想他不会怕你的。我想他为你着迷了。
赛琳：真的吗？
杰西：我是说，我认识你这么久了，对你印象很好。你还会再见他吗？
赛琳：我们还没讨论这件事。好了，到你了，你打给你朋友吧，好吗？
杰西：好吧，好吧。铃铃铃……这家伙通常都是转到语音留言。

杰西：马德里糟透了。你知道，丽萨和我的长距离恋爱走到尽头了。

杰西：是啊，是啊。长距离恋爱根本行不通。我只在马德里待了几天，然后买了张从维也纳飞（回美国）的便宜机票。但是，你知道吗，并不是因为它真那么便宜，我只是……不想立刻就回家，不想见到任何认识的人。我想像个鬼魂一样游荡，销声匿迹一般。
赛琳：那你现在还好吗？
杰西：嗯，我很好，好极了。那就是我想要告诉你的，我现在很开心，告诉你为什么。我在欧洲的最后一晚，遇到一个人。你相信吗？
赛琳：太不可思议了。
杰西：是啊，我知道。你知道他们说的我们都是对方的魔鬼和天使吗？嗯，她就是波提切利画中的天使，安慰我一切都会好起来的。
赛琳：你们怎么认识的？
杰西：在火车上。嗯，她的邻座是一对古怪的总是吵架的夫妻，她不得不挪了座，坐到跟我只隔了条走道的座位上，于是我们开始交谈。一开始她不是那么喜欢我，她非常聪明，富有激情，美丽动人。我对自己很不自信，觉得自己说的话都那么愚蠢。
赛琳：噢，伙计，这点我不担心。
杰西：不是那么回事。
赛琳：不，我确定她不会那么看你。不会的，顺便问一句，她坐到你旁边的，不是吗？我保证她是故意这么做的。
杰西：噢，是吗？
赛琳：是啊，我们男人那么笨，对女人一无所知。她们行为古怪，我们一点儿也不了解他们，不是吗？
杰西：是啊。
