Former Naval Minister Knox praised him for braving the wounded soldiers. At Guadal Canal, he collected material from the second book, The Valley, published in 1943. He was up to four times in flight. ’The bell of Adanos’, published in 1944, was based on his experience in the Mediterranean theater in 1943, when he lived in the countryside of Sicily and followed those inside . In 1944, Time Agency sent him to Moscow. He married the female sculptor Frances Ann Cannon and has two children.
