早在１８９７年就有文献报道，放射线有可能引起心脏损伤；１９２４年Ｄａｖｉｓ用狗做实验，发现射线确实导致了心肌病变；Ｓｃｈｗｅｉｚｅｙ也报道了霍奇金病患者放射治疗后发生心肌细胞萎缩和毛细血管壁肥厚，但Ｌｅａｃｈ的研究结果显示大鼠心脏对高剂量Ｘ线照射有抵抗性
