红矮星为什么长寿?科学家推算:太阳的寿命大致是100亿年,目前约有45.7亿岁,如果按照人类的寿命来类比,太阳“正值中年”。预计在50~60亿年之后,太阳内部的氢元素会全部耗尽,核心将发生坍缩。对于人类来说,50亿年非常久远,但是与红矮星的寿命相比,这点时间简直微不足道。别看红矮星的质量只有太阳的十二分之一左右,但它们的寿命却长达数万亿年。科学家根据理论模型计算出,质量比太阳小得多的红矮星寿命可达10万亿年,相当于太阳寿命的1000倍左右。
