By exploring the Gothic idea of non - organic vitality in the film The Silence of the Lambs(1991),and via the techniques of camera shots,this paper makes a probe into the important functions and various effects of the Gothic elements on the characters,plots,setting,psychological state of the hero and heroine and the ending of the story in order to demonstrate the powers harnessed by the Gothic woman within the genre.
