In the context of deepening globalization and increasingly fierce competition in overall national strength, think tanks have become an important force influencing government decision-making and promoting social progress. They are also an important part of a country’s soft power. According to the results of a study conducted by the University of Pennsylvania on think tanks all over the world, there are currently 6826 think tanks in the world and the top ten think tanks in the world are occupied by Europe and the United States. The United States is the largest think tank in the world and ranks number one in terms of quantity and quality. Although China ranks second in the number of think tanks, there are few think tanks in the world that have significant influence. Thus, after more than 30 years of reform and opening up, China’s economy has been rapidly growing, but the matching comprehensive soft power improvement lags behind obviously. The lack of international influence in our think tanks needs to be given high priority.
