【Objective】 The objective of this study was to explore the correlation between the regeneration of holly seedlings and environmental factors and provide references for forest tending and sustainable management in hilly and mountainous areas of southern Jiangsu. 【Method】 Four representative natural secondary forest plots in Lishui Forest Farm of Jiangsu Province were investigated in detail. On the basis of analyzing the individual size-density distribution characteristics of the young seedlings of Hollyhock in different communities, the results of redundancy analysis (RDA) Methods The relationship between the renewal status of the seedlings and the intraspecific, interspecific and soil factors was studied. 【Result】 With the increase of the important value of holly in the community, the seedlings of Hollyhock were gradually changed from “high density - small plant type” to “low density - large plant type”. The three kinds of environmental factors promoted the overall performance of Hollyhock seedlings, but there were some differences among different stand types and different soil types in different stand layers. When Hollyhock was of high importance value, the stand structure factors of interspecific and interspecific factors were the main influencing factors and the soil factors had little effect. The interspecific interaction was mainly reflected by the influence of the tall tall trees. When Hollyhock value is low, the influence of soil factors exceeds that of stand structure. At this time, the effect of stand structure is mainly manifested as the strong inter-species interaction of regeneration layer. 【Conclusion】 Among the different types of communities in the hilly and mountainous areas of southern Jiangsu Province, the dominant factors that affect the regeneration of Hollyhock seedlings are different. The effect of stand structure and soil factors on the regeneration of Hollyhock seedlings is different due to the differences in the important values of holly in the communities.
