The world’s cultural heritage belongs to us all; it is fragile, it is disappearing all of the time; and professional defenders and the general public are protecting it for the future. ICCROM is an intergovernmental organization devoted to the protection of cultural property, and 109 countries are currently members of it. In 2000, China became one of them. Its full name is International Cultural Property Protection and Restoration Research Center. Founded in Rome in 1959, it is the only worldwide commissioned research institution that promotes the protection of immovable and movable cultural relics. Therefore, it occupies a special place in the field of cultural heritage protection.
