Neonatal bilirubin encephalopathy is due to plasma unbound bilirubin through the blood-brain barrier deposition in the basal ganglia, hippocampus and other special nerve nuclei caused by acute toxic encephalopathy. Diagnostic criteria and related definitions: bilirubin encephalopathy diagnosis and staging reference “Practical Neonatology” [1]. The toxic effects of bilirubin directly affect the neonatal mortality and morbidity. It is one of the most important causes of neonatal disability in clinic. The mortality rate as high as 50% to 75%, survived in the rescue of children about 75% to 90% of the serious legacy of the nervous system sequelae [2]. This article on my hospital admitted in recent years, 37 cases of neonatal bilirubin encephalopathy report is as follows.
