王朝闻先生是我国著名的马克思主义美学理论家、文艺批评家和雕塑家。1909年4月出生在四川省台江县。去年6月,在人民大会堂由中宣部、文化部、中国艺术研究院等部门联合为王老举行祝贺座谈会,祝贺他90华诞、从事学术活动70周年和《王朝闻集》正式出版。一天清晨,在北京东郊金台路附近的一处普通居所里,笔者见到了满头白发,身穿睡衣的王朝闻先生,原以为他是刚刚起床,一问才知道,他凌晨3点即已起床,在台灯下已写作了6个小时。虽然尚未梳洗,但脸上绝无倦色。在旁微笑的老伴说:“他每天都这样,吃完早点后,还要接着写,每天坚持工作到十多个小时,算得上‘乐此不瘦’啊!”
