文艺复兴时期产生于十四世纪左右,当时的资本主义正处于萌芽阶段,这是资产阶级希望冲破教会以及神学的束缚,因而发起了这样一场文化运动。虽然,文艺复兴时期的大量美术作品依然是以宗教内容为主题的,包括拉斐尔、米开朗基罗等艺术家都曾经为当时的教会建筑制作大量美术作品。但是,与中世纪美术作品的风格有了很明显的变化。这场文化运动是一场让人性复苏的文化运动,这场运动中产生的大量艺术作品都具有强烈的温情主义色彩和人文主义精神。
