2004年5月,由于拒绝放孙悦去国家青年队训练,北京奥神被中国篮协禁赛一年。时隔一年后,奥神同意孙悦加入国家队,同时也宣布退出 2005-2006赛季CBA联赛,此举意味着奥神至少将在三年内无缘CBA。正当人们为北京奥神的前途担忧时,2005年7月北京奥神俱乐部选送了12名平均身高2．05米、平均年龄21岁的运动员到美国留学、训练,并于10月宣布参加美国ABA职业联赛。北京奥神作为CBA首家民营职业篮球俱乐部,如今征战美国ABA联赛并取得了不俗佳绩,使得这支篮球队伍近日再度引起人们的广泛关注。
