Haruki Murakami’s “Encounter One Hundred Percent Girls” describes the story of an early morning “I” rubbing shoulders with “One Hundred Girls” in Harajuku Backstreet. The novel tries hard to show that “one hundred percent ” is different from the righteousness of daily experience, which is the meaning of uniqueness, which leads to the falseness of the incident. The novel is intended to create a commonsense error: accidental fragments of life are considered essential inevitability, thus forming the absurdity of the story. Absurdity stems from paradoxical narrative: “I” is a limited perspective. It can only state events but is intentionally transformed into the perspective of omniscience and omniscience to judge the events, thus violating the logic of experience. The authors’ underlying intention is to cut into mythological narratives by narrating paradoxes. Mythological narratives show that the meaning of the existence of things is not self-determination, but rather the way it is narrated. So, “Encounter 100% Girls” opens up the narrative nature behind things through paradoxical games.
