哈金是首位获得美国国家图书奖的华人作家,也是用英文写作的最负盛名的当代美国华裔作家之一。虽然他一直在西方进行写作,但几乎他所有作品的“根”都在中国。30多年来,他笔耕不辍,创作出了《等待》《战废品》《南京安魂曲》等贴近中国历史和现实、令读者体会到切肤之痛的“中国故事”。无论是“中国题材”的选择,还是中国化英语语言、语境的运用,都淋漓尽致地体现了哈金深厚的中国情结。
Harkin is the first Chinese writer to receive the National Book Award and one of the most prestigious contemporary American Chinese writers who write in English. Although he has been writing in the West, almost all the “root” of his works are in China. For more than 30 years, he has penned his works and created such stories as “Waiting,” “War Remnants,” “Nanjing Requiem,” and so on which are close to the history and reality of China. Whether it is the choice of “Chinese subject matter” or the application of Chinese English language and context, it vividly reflects Ha Jin’s profound Chinese complex.
