In some analog or control pulse-width modulation circuits, and some regulator or driver pulse width modulation circuit, the pulse width modulator must have a special nature. This means that the output polarity of the modulator must be the same polarity as the input modulated signal and the output should also be zero when the input signal is zero. Figure 1 shows the circuit consists of two op amps, two timing flip-flops and some adjunct components. This is a pulse width modulator with positive and negative pulse width modulation output. The polarity of the output pulse is the same as that of the input modulated signal. When the input modulated signal is zero, the output pulse is also zero. T_1 (555) is the timing trigger, which is a one-shot circuit that is continuously triggered by the clock pulse input from the 2-terminal and modulates the input signal.
