本刊今年第一、二期上发表了白戈同志《我对新闻通讯插图的看法》一文以后,不少报纸美术工作者和读者踊跃来稿参加讨论,我们收到来稿近三十篇,曾在第三期上进登了一部分;最近,本刊又邀请首都几个报纸的美术工作者开了一个小型座谈会,请他们就报纸插图问题发表意见。从这次座谈会和来稿的情况来看,多数同志的意见是一致的:大家都肯定新闻通讯插图是报纸宣传不可缺少的组成部分,是受到广大读者欢迎的一种宣传形式;至于个别插图有缺点,只是改进和提高的问题。关于新闻通讯插图的性质和真实性问题,多数同志的看法也大体相近。不少同志认为新闻通讯插图具有新闻和文艺的两重性质,既从属于新闻,又是一个艺术品种。它从属于新闻这一点是主要的方面。因此,关于插图的真实性不能和新闻通讯或新闻摄影的真实性要求完全等同;但是也决不允许任意虚构,必须以新闻通讯为依据,在调查研究的基础上进行创作。有的同志还提出了改进新闻通讯插图的一些办法。我们现在把这次座谈会上部分同志的发言摘要发表在这里,供大家参考,并作为这个问题讨论的结束。
After the article published in the first and second issue of this year, Comrade Bai owned the article entitled “My Views on the Illustrations of Newsletters and Correspondence”. Therefore, the authenticity of illustrations can not be exactly the same as the authenticity of newsletters or photojournalism; however, it must never be arbitrary and must be based on news media and based on investigations and studies. Some comrades have also proposed some ways to improve the illustrations of the news media. We hereby announce here the summary of the speeches made by some comrades at this symposium for your reference and as an end to the discussion on this issue.
