“首届农作物科学大会”于1992年7月14日至22日在美国衣阿华州立大学召开,来自85个国家的1100多名代表参加了会议,中国国内赴会代表18人。诺贝尔和平奖获得者、绿色革命的创始人、著名作物遗传育种学家N.E.Borlaug博士,世界食物奖获得者Robert F.Chandler Jr博士,John S.Niederhauser博士等参加了会议。这次大会的宗旨是:在面临全球人口将在今后50年至60年间翻一番,而人类对粮食的需求也将随之增加1倍至3倍的压力下,确定21世纪农作物科学研究的方向和目标,共同寻求满足人类日益增长的粮食需求新途径。
The First Crop Science Conference was held at Iowa State University in the United States from July 14 to July 22, 1992. More than 1,100 delegates from 85 countries attended the conference and 18 domestic delegates attended the conference. Nobel Peace Prize Laureate, founder of the Green Revolution, Dr. N.E.Borlaug, a renowned crop geneticist and scholar, World Food Prize winner Dr. Robert F. Chandler Jr, and Dr. John S. Niederhauser attended the meeting. The purpose of this conference is to determine the 21st century crop science research in the face of the global population will double in the next 50 to 60 years, while the human demand for food will also be doubled to 3 times. Direction and goals to find new ways to meet the growing food needs of mankind.
