Rupert Croft-Cooke was educated at Tonbridge School,andlives in Tangier.He has published about sixty books,including po-ems.Some of his short stories appeared for the first time in newspa-pers and other periodicals,and were later collected and published inbook form.One or the Other is in the collection entitled A Footballfor the Brigadier(1950).In this story Mrs.Shaw talks to a youngman about her choice of a husband:and as her house is pleasant andcomfortable,it is evident that she has chosen well.
