港口码头泊位建成后,无论回淤量大小,其码头前的水深都将随着使用时间的增长而淤浅。即使是回淤量很小的港口,码头前的水深也会因自然回淤和随着装卸作业过程中货物的散落而逐步淤浅,特别是一些散货泊位,淤浅的速度有时还是比较快的。因此,为了维持码头前的设计水深,保证靠泊船舶的安全,必须对码头前的水深定期进行维护。
