Hong Kong’s telecommunications industry has been making positive statements recently in support of the government’s proposal to terminate the international telephone franchise and fully liberalize the telecommunications market. The Hong Kong Institute of Engineers said recently that it welcomed the proposal put forward by the SAR government for an early termination of the international telecommunication franchise in Hong Kong and fully liberalized the telecommunications market. The Institute of Information Technology statement
