One of the most difficult aspects of sensor development can be the achievement of adequate se-lectivity and sensitivity for the intended application. Thus, strategies for improving selectivityand sensitivity are important to the future of sensors, especially for applications invoiving thedetection of low concentrations of analytes in complicated sample matrices. Two examples ofthese strategies are electrochemical immunoassay and polymer--modified electrodes.
