The traveling process of traveling wave in the hybrid transmission line is complicated. It is difficult to identify the fault reflected wave by the traveling wave measured at one end of the line. Therefore, it is very difficult to detect the fault distance by the single-ended traveling wave distance measuring method. However, the double-ended traveling wave method only needs to detect the exact time when the initial traveling wave reaches the two ends of the line, and does not need to consider the refraction of subsequent traveling wave. Therefore, the ranging method is reliable. However, the traditional double-end ranging formula is no longer applicable in mixed circuits due to the unsteady traveling wave velocity. Based on the traditional double-end ranging method, this paper proposes a new method based on time variable
