1995年秋的一个星期天,我到南宁市园林花鸟市场观市浏览,偶然间发现一农民在卖树桩及枯根朽木,其中有件根材长约70cm,高约60cm,当时觉得可以制作一人物根艺。经仔细审视,根材比较完整,线条奇而多变,我深信,只要施工得当,扬长避短,就能创作出一件好的根艺作品。于是买了回来,去皮清洗,处理后,色泽光洁,纹理美丽贯通而有变化,是难以多得的根材。搁置月余并反复端详,悟出一少女坐在岩石旁梳理头发的形象,有山有泉,使我联想到电影《五朵金花》中的金花,在蝴蝶泉边梳妆的倩影,她喜悦的情怀、羞涩的姿态,大有“阿妹梳妆为那般”的绝妙情景,还有秀丽的山石、清澈的泉水,极富诗情画意。由此,便立意构思,以“泉边梳妆”为题,顺根材之自然着手构图,去其多余,保留精
