1987年我访问西藏归来,抱着试探的心情,给《人民日报》文艺部寄去几幅拉萨的速写,没想到在同年12月4日的《大地》美术专页上,发表了我的一幅西藏大昭寺的速写。我的作品竟然能登堂入室,真叫人兴奋不已。编者在“来自生活的速写”栏目下,写了一段短文,指出:“速写是画家深入实际、直面生活的记录;是画家训练观察能力、积累素材的手段;也是画家与人民的思想感情互相沟通的彩练。”其实,画画不是我的本职工作,我也并非一名专业画家,这只不过是我的一个业余爱好而已。但自己长期从事出版工作,也并非没有一点因缘的关系,这些年我画过山山水水自然风光的速写聊以自娱,也结
