Israeli scientists have invented a scanner that can diagnose chest tumors by measuring the distribution of capacitance. Place a 7.5 mm square electrode on the chest with an 8 × 8 array of probes during diagnosis. The chest (dielectric) is between the electrode and the common ground electrode as if forming a capacitor. When a voltage is applied, a current of less than 100 microamps per square centimeter flows.
