The U.S. world-wide military command and control system, WWMCCS, was named in 1962 under the DoD Secret Directive. This is the world’s first successful global online data processing and communications network. Today, WWMCCS’s internal network (WIN) connects thousands of places in the world, utilizing more than 100 central processors, 65 remote processors, more than 3,000 workstations, and more than 20 million software transmission lines. The WWMCCS-ADP (Automatic Data Processing) and WWMCCS-WIN are managed by a Joint Chiefs of Staff and are funded jointly by the various arms units, the Command and the agencies it serves. set up
