德高望重的叶圣陶先生已是银须白发的九十老人了,可是他对文化事业的热诚不减当年。他确是人们所赞誉的“一株直挺挺地立着的柏树”。 (一) 叶老,首先是我国著名的老教育家。早在辛亥革命时,他就在苏州中学毕业后进入教育界,一连当了十年小学教员。1921年后又曾在上海中国公学中学部、杭州第一师范、北京大学预科、福州协和大学、上海大学、复旦大学、神州女学、立达学园、松江景贤女子中学上海分校等校任教。1937年抗战爆发,他进入四川内地,又先后在重庆
