Mahatma Gandhi is a great thinker, social reformer and politician in India. His concept of women is an important part of his ideological system. This article starts from the core of its religious philosophy, explores Gandhi’s claim of lifting the yoke of women, analyzes Gandhi’s basic view of women, and evaluates Gandhi’s outlook on women. The author believes that due to the limitations of the times and classes, Gandhi’s women’s concept failed to jump out of the stereotype of the traditional gender roles of both sexes and failed to indicate the fundamental way to achieve equality between men and women. In the final analysis, it serves the nonviolent non-cooperation movement led by Gandhi
