1998年8月20日~21日,美国马里兰大学地质系主任张立豫教授应中国地质科学院领导的邀请,作了“工业矿物的利用”学术报告会,并与来自国内的从事工业矿物利用的专家进行了广泛的讨论,就工业矿物利用的发展前景、方向进行了多方面的深入交流。 张教授结合自己30多年从事工业矿物利用的体会认为:在当今全球地质工作不景气的情况下,工业矿物的利用仍是一个很有前途的领域。他认为从事工业矿物应用研究,除具有扎实的结晶学、矿物学的基础知识外,更重要的是研究人员必需具备3个方面的基本素质:①时刻了解工业界的需求和发展方向;②充分了解自己实验室的特点;③把两者结合起来.不断的向社会推出新产品。 研究人员在与工业界的结合上,他提出了4个面向: (1)把工业界的发展需求作为自己研究领域。以钢铁工业为例,目前有炼铁高炉、热风炉、焦炉、铁水包、混铁炉、炼铁平炉、转炉,均热炉等等炼钢设备,它们需要种类繁多的耐火砖。如何选择一种低熔点、低能耗、耐高温的材料,则是工
