莎翁剧本《李尔王》第四幕第一场中有一句话:“疯子带着瞎子走路,本来是这时代的一般病态。”很明显,剧本中李尔是疯子,被挖掉双眼的葛罗斯特是瞎子。李尔作为父王没有看清大女儿高纳里尔和二女儿里根把自己的父王身份中王的身份看得更重,反而是小女儿考狄利亚则把李尔看作真正的父亲。葛罗斯特也由于对庶出的小儿子更加偏爱而遭灾祸。这种上行下效的疯子李尔王与瞎子葛罗斯特的悲剧相互映衬,悲剧中的悲剧人物对人生、人性
