“哥哥走西口,妹妹也难受,……”这首在內蒙古西部地区广为流传的民歌,反映了旧社会内地人逃荒“走西口”的悲惨生活。如今,随着农村商品经济的迅速发展,在我国南北方之间、内地边疆之间又出现了新一代“走西口”的人们。近几年来,他们象候鸟一样春征秋归,为边远落后地区带来了内地的技术、经验、信息,为内地与边疆搭桥疏路,搞活了经济,应该为之唱一首新的赞歌。不久前,记者从北京返回呼和浩特市的途中,有机会与这些新一代“走西口”的人在同一列车里交谈起来。他们之中有搞推销的、收购的,也有搞维修的、建筑的,还有木匠、油裱匠、缝纫师傅等。其中不少人“走西口”已经有三、四年历史
