中国稀土学会成立大会暨第一届学术会议于1980年12月3日—7日在北京举行。这次大会是稀土学界的空前盛会,参加这次会议的有从事稀土科研、生产和应用等方面的代表358人,包括各方面的著名科学家。大会讨论了稀土学会的章程、选出了60位学会理事,成立了十个专业委员会。大会共收到学术报告356篇,其中177篇在会上作了交流。学术交流分为稀土钢、玻璃陶瓷、新材料、铸造合金、催化、火法冶金、湿法冶金、地质矿山选矿、分析检验与环境保护
China Rare Earth Society Founding Conference cum First Academic Conference was held in Beijing on December 3-7, 1980. The conference is an unprecedented event for the rare earth science community. 358 people participated in the conference, including those engaged in rare earth research, production and application, including well-known scientists in various fields. The conference discussed the constitution of the Rare Earth Society, selected 60 academicians and set up 10 professional committees. A total of 356 academic reports were received by the conference, of which 177 were exchanged at the conference.
