蛋白多糖和胶原是软骨胞外基质的主要成分。用大骨节病病区粮水喂养18个月的恒河猴,上肢关节软骨氨基多糖的已糖醛酸、已糖胺和酯硫组分含量降低,胶原含量升高,其中以病水组动物软骨的上述改变最明显。硒对软骨基质的损伤有一定的保护作用。推测软骨胶原含量升高可能是对软骨氨基多糖减少的一种补偿。
