Shortly after terrorists hijacked planes south of the New York World Trade Center on September 11, major television networks such as CNN began live-stream broadcasts without interruption, and then global audiences witnessed at the same moment a second passenger plane crashing into the WTO North Building, the center of the tragic picture. A few hours later, the in-depth coverage of the New York Times and Newsweek came out. The online media took full advantage of its integrated information. For example, Yahoo’s Internet users could see the latest news and pictures from Reuters and Taiwan Media, New York Times’s latest text coverage and ABC’s television news footage. Tracking the terrorist attacks once again gives us an intuitive understanding of cross-media communication.
