From April 10 to 13, 1996, the International Phenomenological Conference was held at the Chinese University of Hong Kong. The conference was jointly organized by the Chinese Phenomenological Society, the German Phenomenological Society and the Department of Philosophy of the Chinese University of Hong Kong. More than 40 participants from mainland China, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Germany, the United States, Japan, Belgium and other countries and regions, including internationally renowned phenomenologists, such as Germany Klaus Held Professor Bernard Waldenfels professor, the United States, Professor David Carr, etc. . The theme of the conference is “Living world and understanding between cultures ”. “Living World ” is an important thought of Husserl, the founder of phenomenology. The main content is that the scientific world is not the ultimate one, but it is based on the world we live in. Living world precedes the scientific world and is the foundation of the scientific world. It is a fullness of culture - the history of the world, full of past culture - the accumulation of history and ideological activity. People of different cultural traditions have different lifestyles. In a pluralistic world like this, the mutual understanding among different cultures is becoming increasingly urgent and important. Husserl’s concept of “life world ” helps to promote people’s thinking on this issue.
