1 家父韩练成1908年生于甘肃固原(今宁夏自治区固原县),1925年从军,入西北陆军第七师(马鸿达部)军官教导队、军事干部训练学校,结业后随国民革命军(冯玉祥部)北伐,作战骁勇,晋升很快.冯玉祥在《我所认识的蒋介石》一书中曾提到:“……韩练成,在北伐时曾与我共过患难的……”这种评价对一个在北伐时尚不足20岁的青年军官来说是极少见的.1927年夏,韩练成在豫军任骑兵团团长时,曾在东路军前敌总指挥白崇禧麾下作战,担任骑兵集团司令(辖两个骑兵团,另一团是白的部下).1937年,时任副总参谋长的白崇禧推荐韩练成担任李宗仁的高级参谋,从此韩练成开始在桂系部队任高级军职,曾任117师、170师副师长兼351旅、508旅旅长(1938年)、170师师长(1940年)、十六集团军参谋长(1940年)、集团军副总司令兼参谋长(1944年)、46军军长(1945年)、海南岛防卫司令官(1945年),直至1947年2月莱芜战役.
