据台湾《经济日报》报导:台湾首部研制成功的程式机器人,是81年6月由交大计算机工程研究所蔡伟建研究成功的‘交大机器人一号’,该系统由机器人控制单元、定位控制单元及机械手臂等三部份组成。82年初,交大又研制成功一台具有感应装置的智惠型机器人,配有微电脑设备可执行即时线上(On Line)作业,命名为‘交大机器人二号’。其最大特点是在手指部份装有二个感应器可‘感觉’出应有握力与抓握之物体是否滑动,此两感应器也是交大自行研究成功。82年一季度,明志工专也发表其研制成功
