In order to stop a series of landslides that often occur in a 45m deep cut, a 187m long tunnel was constructed between Vienna A2 and the Graz expressway near Konigsberg. Since the construction of the highway in the early 1980s, the cutting edges near Konigsberg have suffered from landslides that require costly mountain stabilization to prevent them. It is only a stopgap measure to try to dry the water with a large caving headstock and a large number of stone supports with huge holes that are 1.5m in diameter and 30m in length.
