农业产业结构的调整和经营服务体系的不断完善 ,迫切需要大量的掌握农业科技的应用型、技术型的专门人才。我国农业职业技术教育起步较晚 ,目前正处于快速发展的新时期 ,需要建设一批高质量的示范基地加以引导。南京农业大学等高等农业院校师资力量雄厚 ,教学设施先进 ,管理比较科学、规范 ,有优势成为农业职业技术教育的示范基地。在示范基地建设的过程中 ,各级各部门要进一步提高建设示范基地重要性的认识 ;解放思想 ,广开经费来源 ,为基地建设提供必要的经费支撑 ;在发挥高校优势的同时 ,树立特色观念 ,达到“先一步、高一层、出经验、出成果、出效益”的要求
