我们能不能运用教育统计学的知识对学生学习成绩进行预测,这是大家颇为关心的问题.今天向大家介绍教育统计学中有关“回归”的知识,对解决这一问题将会有所帮助. 一、回归的概念回归概念最早源于英国高尔登研究遗传问题的论文中.他在研究祖先与后代身高之间相互关系中发现,子女的身高有向其父母平均身高回归的趋势.这就是说两个变量之间不仅存在着相互联系的强度(即相关系数),而且还可以由一个(或多个)变量的变化推测另一个变量的变化,这种统计方法叫做回归.
We can not use the knowledge of educational statistics to predict students’ academic performance. This is a problem that we are quite concerned about. Today we will introduce the knowledge of “regression” in education statistics and will help solve this problem. 1. The Concept of Regression The concept of regression was originally derived from the study of genetic problems by Galton in the United Kingdom. In his study of the relationship between ancestors and heights of offspring, he found that the height of children has a tendency to return to their parents’ average height. That is to say, there is not only the strength of the correlation between the two variables (that is, the correlation coefficient), but also the change of one variable (or more) can be used to infer the change of another variable. This statistical method is called regression.
