不知道国内其他同行怎么看美国报纸的版面,我的理解是:简洁即美。一记得刚开始以职业眼光细察美国报纸版面时,我的感觉是简单。当代许多美国严肃大报的版面都有一种相似,就是一个个块的组合:几乎每篇文章都是整整齐齐的长方块,块上顶着等宽的标题,块的右下角即是文章的结尾。没有中国报纸上很常见的拐文、包题,以及文文相套的阶梯状排列之类,让人觉得毫无玄妙之感(参见图1)。后来接触多了,有了比较深的感受,又懂得了一些美国报纸版面理论,便明白了那种简单的块安排,正是美国报人的匠心所在。因为美国报纸排版的首要原则是易读性。唯易读才能使生活节奏那么紧张的读者把你精心采写的文章读下来。因为读者实实在在就是上帝,所以易读就是一
I do not know how other domestic counterparts read the pages of the American newspapers. My understanding is that simplicity is beauty. As soon as I remember beginning to look professionally at American newspaper pages, my feeling was simple. There are similarities in the layout of many of the U.S. serious big newspapers in the past, and they are a combination of blocks: almost every article is a neat rectangle with a block header of equal width, the lower right corner of the block is the article end. There is no sense of mystery without the often-abusive language of the Chinese newspaper, the package title, and the hierarchical arrangement of the texts (see Figure 1).
